We spoke to wedding photographers and industry experts around the country offering various service options and found two key things. Location matters, as does the size of your ceremony. 

“Social media has and will continue to drive up wedding expectations and those placed on photographers,” says Sarah Klingman, CEO and founder of gthr, a wedding planning company that serves 17 U.S. cities. “We see average costs of wedding photographers as high as $15,000 in New York City and as low as $3,000 in smaller cities.” 

Meanwhile, Vermont wedding photographer Anne Mientka tells us she averages $4,800 per wedding in her home state. 

If you’re planning to elope, you may be excited to learn that the average price is a little less complex. Elizabeth H. Raley, owner of Elope to Savannah, operates in a niche wedding market and keeps it simple. Her elopement rates are $400 per hour and $200 for a half-hour. She notes her price range is “on par with local portrait photographer prices.” Traditional wedding photographers charge more because of the overwhelming amount of stress that comes with shooting that type of event. Elopements, however, are only a half-hour or an hour max.

What’s Included in a Typical Wedding Photography Package

When searching for high-quality wedding photographers, you’ll likely find that most have packages that cover all the basics. A typical wedding photography package includes six to 10 hours of coverage and an online gallery. More often than not, add-ons like videography, travel fees, second shooters and photo albums come with an additional cost. 

If you want professional coverage for other wedding-adjacent events, such as an engagement session or a rehearsal dinner, it helps to work with the same photographer you plan to book for your big day. Of course, that coverage will be a separate line item in your wedding budget.

Factors That May Influence Your Wedding Photographer Cost

Before signing on the dotted line, it helps to understand what you’re paying for. Here’s a look at different factors that come into play when booking a wedding photographer, plus a few valuable tips for how you can save. 

Wedding Location 

Location often plays a key role in wedding photography prices. And while you may not see much of a difference between major metropolitan areas like New York City and Los Angeles, you’ll likely find a big difference in pricing between Manhattan and Omaha, Nebraska. Overall, it’s safe to expect in-town prices to be lower than those requiring travel. So, if you’re planning a destination wedding, it might be wise to engage the services of a local wedding planner and photographer for your big day. 

Hours of Coverage

“Most wedding photographers will charge by the hour, so the more time they spend covering your wedding day, the more money you’ll be required to pay,” says Mary Smith, founder of the wedding blog Vowness. 

This is especially true for less experienced photographers, according to Kari Bjorn, owner of Kari Bjorn Photography in Fayetteville, Arkansas. “When starting out, [wedding photographers] tend to charge an hourly rate with a la carte add-ons as opposed to having a few packages clients can choose from,” he says. “Photographers who offer wedding photography packages most often do 6, 8 and 10 hours and include more add-ons (such as photo albums and wall prints) in larger packages.” 

How to save: “The majority of photographers will offer 8- to 10-hour packages, but if you can only afford a few hours, then consider inquiring about half-day packages,” Smith says. 

Time of Year and Day of the Week  

In terms of variable pricing based on timing, we found that it’s a mixed bag. Ultimately, it depends on the photographer. Mientka, for example, doesn’t charge differently based on the day of the week, season or on holidays because it is always the same amount of (hard) work. Similarly, Bjorn keeps his rates the same on Saturdays and in the off-season, noting that discounted pricing is more common with wedding venues than photographers. 

How to save: While you may not score direct savings on wedding photographer costs in the off-season, you might find that scheduling your wedding during the off-season may result in reduced pricing for your venue and other services. Consider making some phone calls to see if a March wedding may be more cost-effective than a June event. You can then funnel those venue savings into booking a high-quality wedding photographer!  

Second Shooter

“Some photographers offer a second shooter as an a la carte add-on with an hourly rate, [but] others may include it in their packages,” Bjorn explains. He takes a hybrid approach for couples who want an additional set of hands at their wedding. His 8- and 10-hour packages include a second photographer in the price, while couples who book shorter packages can choose it as an optional add-on. Bjorn says couples can expect a second shooter to add approximately “$100 to $150 per hour” to their final invoice. 

Retouching and Editing

“Editing, culling and simple post-production are almost always included in the listed price,” Bjorn says. “Retouching is mostly priced on a case-by-case basis.” So, if your extensive wedding planning is causing some major under-eye circles leading up to the big day, you might want to discuss retouching with your photographer in advance. 

Wedding Albums

According to Bjorn, wedding photo albums are similar to second shooters. They’re often included in larger packages and offered as an a la carte add-on with smaller packages. “Albums range from a few hundred dollars well into four digits based on paper quality, page count, cover material, embossing, debossing, slipcases, linen or leather boxes, and more,” he explains. “The sky is pretty much the limit when it comes to wedding albums.” 

How to save: When discussing the details of your wedding photography package, ask your photographer if they have any “early-bird” deals. “Clients tend not to buy albums as an a la carte add-on until after the gallery has been delivered, and they often take their files to a third party,” Bjorn says. “As a result, many photographers offer a discount if couples purchase them before the wedding day.”

While tips aren’t required, they are appreciated. “Tips are absolutely welcome for all wedding day vendors, and photographers are no different,” Klingman says. 

Mientka notes that tips for herself and the second shooter are excellent, but not expected. “One in four couples tip about $100,” she says. “And it’s usually a parent who slips me an envelope at the end of the night.”

You can start down on the beach and play in the surf, and finish up high on any of the trails with their sweeping views out over the ocean. An unbeatable combination.”

2. Sutro Baths

Couples desiring a variety of backdrops will appreciate the myriad of landscapes at the wholly unique Sutro Baths. “I love that Sutro Baths offers so many different landscapes for one engagement session,” say Jamie Eichar and Lauren Eichar of Eichar Photography. “You’ll get to run around on the beach, you’ll get to explore the ruins from Sutro Baths, which used to be a big, indoor pool before it burnt down in 1966 — the reflections at the baths just after sunset are magical. You can also get some great couple portraits from above the beach and baths in the Cypress tree forest as well as the cliffs overlooking the ocean.” 

3. Rodeo Beach

Only 3 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge, Rodeo Beach is a wide stretch of shore covered in red and green pebbles interspersed by jasper, carnelian, black agate and jade. The beach is sheltered by cliffs and bound by a lagoon, which provide dynamic settings for engagement photos. Another popular spot to snap some shots is on the stairs that wind down a grassy hill that ends at the beach.

4. Baker Beach

This mile-long beach is located below the rugged cliffs on the Presidio’s western shoreline and provides spellbinding views of both the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands. Something that makes this site unique is the gray-green mineral serpentine that protrudes from the cliffs that line the beach, creating photos that have the pop of red from the bridge and a subtle green from the cliffs.

Mount Tamalpais looks amazing in fog and sunshine.” 

6. Lovers’ Lane (The Presidio)

What could be a more appropriate location for engagement photos than Lovers’ Lane in the Presidio? This tree-lined trail was established in the 18th century as a shortcut used by Spanish soldiers and missionaries to get from the Main Post to Mission Dolores. Now, the trail is simply a picturesque path used by those that enjoy a stroll in nature. If you want to sprinkle extra charm into your photos, be sure to follow the trail until you run into the footbridge that was built in 1885.

7. Oakland Redwoods

Submerge yourself in the glory of the redwoods by saying yes to an engagement photo shoot in Oakland’s Redwood Regional Park. After you snap plenty of photos in the redwoods, wander through the evergreens, chaparral, and grasslands this hidden forest contains. “As much as I love Muir Woods, it’s just WAY too crowded,” says Rebecca Skidgel. “The Oakland Redwood [Regional Park] is the perfect spot if you want to shoot in the redwoods – there’s less people, it’s more intimate, and there’s a lot more freedom to roam around and get lots of fun photos.” 

8. Legion of Honor Museum

This stately museum includes a vast courtyard made of white marble, which provides a clean backdrop for photos. It’s especially stunning if you and your fiancé are sporting colorful outfits that stand out against the white backdrop. This location is made even more appealing by the numerous marble columns that make you feel as though you’ve stumbled into ancient Greece. This is a setting that’s sure to lead to spectacular engagement photos.

9. Ocean Beach

This is a great choice for classic shots of you and your loved one walking hand in hand on the beach. You can access the beach at many points, as it spans the entire Sunset District of San Francisco from Cliff House to Sloat Boulevard. “Always unpredictable (you may get fog, wind, or a perfectly clear blue sky) but never anything short of gorgeous, an engagement session at Ocean Beach is always a joy!” says Claire Lewis of Tia & Claire Studio. “I love photographing there in the hour before sunset when the light is amazing and you get long, dreamy shadows. Couples can play at the edge of the ocean, sit on the sand and share a bottle of wine, or snuggle up in the dunes. A great location for couples who have a dog they want to include in their shoot.”

10. Point Reyes National Seashore

This remarkable area features rocky headlands, seemingly endless beaches, open grasslands, brushy hillsides, and forested ridges, all teeming with more than 1,500 species of plants and animals. “This is the ultimate for adventurers — an entire coastline of wonder!“ says Teri Bocko of Teri B Photography. “Some of my favorite spots are the Inverness Shipwreck, the famous tree tunnel and the cliff views up at the lighthouse. Make sure you have a full tank of gas and snacks as the area is quite remote. It’s one of the best spots the entire California coast has to offer.”

11. Kirby Cove

Another fun location that allows the grandeur of the Golden Gate Bridge to photo bomb you, Kirby Cove is a prime option if you want the majesty of both nature and man-made marvels in your photos. “If you can catch this location when the fog is clearing, it offers a stunning view of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco as well as the Marin cliffs and the ocean,” Cindi Stephan of Two Irises says. “Parking can be tricky and it requires a steep downhill walk from the road but if your clients are game this is a wonderful spot. A little exercise and the thrill of the ocean waves bring a genuine glow to their faces!”

12. Big Sur

One of the most dramatic coastlines in California, Big Sur provides a wonderland of photo ops. Many even say this area is so incredible it’s in the same tier as the Grand Canyon. “If the long drive doesn’t scare you and you love beautiful coastal views, I hope that you put Carmel and Big Sur at the top of your list of places to take your engagement photos,” say Jamie Eichar and Lauren Eichar of Eichar Photography. “It’s my all-time favorite place to photograph engagement shoots and weddings. I love seeing the look on my couples’ faces when I take them to new spots around Carmel and Big Sur that they haven’t explored yet.”

13. Russian Ridge

This 3,137-acre preserve is a bucolic setting that comes alive with windflowers in the spring. In the summer, the hills seem to be coated in gold at sunset. Fall and winter often provide crisp, clear skies that reveal impressive views of San Francisco Bay and the Santa Cruz Mountains. One of the most acclaimed spots for photos is Borel Hill, which is the highest named point in San Mateo County, and provides a 360-degree view.

14. Crissy Field 

In 2001, Crissy Field was transformed from a former military airfield into a national park site that includes a hard-packed promenade with views of the Bay Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, and a trail that runs between Marina Green and Fort Point. This area also features beaches and tidal marsh overlooks that are ideal options for engagement photos. 

15. Filoli

Reminiscent of an English garden, Filoli is a 654-acre fantasy land of meticulously-maintained grounds overflowing with daffodils, tulips, poppies, hydrangeas, jasmine and many other colorful, fragrant blooms. The gardens also include manicured lawns and hedges, in addition to an assortment of trees. And, this estate features a Georgian-style home that exudes old-world elegance. The only potential downside of this location is that there are so many amazing photo backdrops it’s hard to choose your favorites. 

16. Fort Point

If you want to be up close and personal with the Golden Gate Bridge during your photo shoot, head to Fort Point. The fort was built between 1853 and 1861 by the U.S. Army Engineers as part of a defense system of forts planned to protect San Francisco Bay. “This spot is iconic for the Alfred Hitchcock film ‘Vertigo’,” Teri Bocko of Teri B Photography says. “It’s one of my favorite spots to photograph because it’s so rich in history, it’s free and never that busy in the early morning. There are the iconic steel staircases, lots of arched brick and interesting corners to explore.”

17. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve

An excellent choice if you hope to fully immerse in nature for this special photo shoot, Fitzgerald Marine Reserve at Half Moon Bay will have you snapping shots amongst tidepools hosting algae, crabs, sponges, sea stars and mollusks. You’ll also be able to meander through pocket beaches, a Monterey cypress grove, and other dreamy settings. “Forest, beach, lookouts — this is a lesser-known engagement location that has it all,” says Teri Bocko of Teri B Photography. “A short drive from the city and worth going early or for sunset. I recommend this one for nature lovers since you get the best of the coast in one spot.”

18. Bodega Head

You might feel as though you’ve stepped onto a coast in Scotland or Ireland when you reach Bodega Head. This rocky peninsula is about four-miles long and one-mile wide, and includes bluff top vistas, walking trails, beach access, and viewings of wildlife like seabirds, seals, and migrating whales, depending on the season. “Bodega Head is such a beautiful location!” San Francisco wedding photographer Rebecca Skidgel says. “It can be super windy but it’s totally worth it for the variety between the cute little beach, the succulent-filled cliffs and the grassy hills. And it’s the perfect spot for sunset photos.”

19. Conservatory of Flowers

If you choose to take advantage of the otherworldly wonders that abound at this conservatory, you’ll find yourself posing in front of rare and unusual flowers and plants, Victorian doors, and a vast manicured lawn that seems to be painted with a rainbow of carefully positioned flowers. This acclaimed location also boasts five distinct galleries that each focus on a different ecosystem, which range from the dense tropical rainforests of Sumatra to the cloud forests of Ecuador and beyond.

20. Lake Hennessey

13-miles north of Napa sits the tranquil Lake Hennessey that provides scenic surroundings for engagement photos. “Lake Hennessey is a gorgeous location for engagement sessions, especially in the spring when everything is green and luscious,” Rebecca Skidgel says. “There’s so many fun trails and spots that overlook the lake but you can also walk the path along the lake — we love variety.”

21. Del Valle

Del Valle allows couples to take advantage of the soothing beauty of hillsides covered in grass that shimmers in the gold light of the setting sun. But while the backdrop is extraordinary, it’s subtle enough to let the happy couple really take center stage. “Del Valle Regional Park is a gorgeous location year-round,” says wedding photographer Rebecca Skidgel. “Whether the grass is dry or green, nothing can beat the views of those rolling hills.”

The Day of the Week May Lower the Costs of Wedding Photography

Many wedding photographers maintain a fixed price for their services regardless of the day of the week, pricing their packages based on logistical costs and personal expertise.

“My rates aren’t affected by day of the week, time of the year, nor demand. The biggest factors that affect my rates are the costs associated with doing business and customer acquisition, the time required for the service, and the value I place on my skill level.”

Other photographers, however, may offer discounts and alternative packages for weekday services. Emily Ganey, for example, offers different package options for weekday weddings, allowing for a more flexible price range and a lower starting rate. Dana and Scott Halvorson offer different rates for weekday elopements and micro-weddings, but maintain fixed rates for full weddings.

A More Experienced Photographer = A Higher Price

As expected, a photographer’s experience almost always affects their starting rates. 

“As you gain experience, demand increases. I adjust my prices with demand. When too many people are booking at a certain rate, it is time to raise them.”

“Our rates have consistently increased as our career has grown. We’ve been wedding photographers since 2012 and have photographed over 300 weddings together as a couple. When the quality of the product we are able to deliver rises, so do our rates.”

The longer a photographer has been in the business, the better their services will likely be, and thus, the higher their rates. Expertise has a price!

“Supposing you remain in the same market and area, I believe that whoever you are, your rates should consistently increase as you grow as an artist and business owner. My rates were astronomically low when I first started out — somewhat embarrassing to even admit!”

Considering that a wedding photographer’s rates increase as their career grows, couples planning their wedding with a tighter budget may find lower priced packages with photographers who are newer to the field. On the other hand, couples open to a higher spend on wedding photography may want to work with more experienced photographers on the big day.

A Photographer’s Demand May Increase or Decrease Their Price

Demand can affect a wedding photographer’s rates in both directions: If demand is low (and the photographer has open availability), they may be able to offer a custom package at a lower price, whereas if demand is high (and the photographer is overbooked), they may provide a higher quote for their services. Considering this, it can be beneficial to book a wedding photographer well before the celebration.

“If we only have one free weekend left in the month and someone reaches to book us, I will likely send a higher pricing guide since I know that month is going to be chaotic. On the other hand, if someone reaches out less than 6 months before their wedding and at that point we have open availability, I’ll send a lower pricing guide and offer to create a custom package for them.”

Faraway Location(s) May Add On to Travel Costs

Keep in mind that wedding photographers may charge extra for travel costs for a celebration taking place in multiple locations or a distance away from home.

“If the wedding is outside the large area we consider to be our “home turf” (everything between Lake Tahoe and Carmel), we will add on some travel costs, but the package pricing remains the same. And we personally don’t charge extra for photographing at multiple locations on the wedding day.”

Many photographers, however, will factor travel costs into their rates. By offering fixed rates that cover all potential costs associated with their services, wedding photographers can make the payment process as simple as possible.

“Many wedding photographers charge extra for travel and/or a second location. I keep it simple for my clients and factor all of that into my fixed rates, so they understand exactly what they’re paying. If I’m going from location to location for a single wedding, I just like to remind the couple that I won’t be shooting while I’m commuting.”

“I don’t typically charge extra depending on the location, but if it’s a venue I’ve worked at before and I know I’m going to have to incur extra travel costs, then I’ll likely raise my rates to cover the travel expenses. In that case I just incorporate it into my rates — I don’t necessarily add ‘travel’ to the couple’s invoice.”

Edits and Delivery Speed Don’t Typically Affect the Cost of Wedding Photography

Two cost factors we inquired each photographer about were “additional edit requests” and “the speed of delivery.” While some photographers include an additional charge for extravagant edit requests, few ever found themselves in a situation where they needed to bill the client for them. Similarly, most wedding photographers found their clients were happy with receiving their photograph galleries within 30-60 days.

“We have had couples request additional edits, and for the most part, we are willing to do that at no charge, as long as the requests are within reason. If there ever was a request that was a substantially laborious task, we would likely assess additional fees.”

Parting Advice: Choose Your Photographer with Intention!

For some final advice, we asked each wedding photographer what wisdom they wanted to impart on every Bay Area couple searching for their wedding photographer.

“There are so many talented photographers here! Of course, you want to fall in love with someone’s work, but also take the time to get to know them on a personal level and make sure you connect with them. Use your consultation as time to get to know them the way you would on a first date. Once you’ve hired someone you trust, pass over the reins and let them do what they do best. The best images come when the couple puts their trust in the photographer. “

“Be extremely intentional with choosing your wedding photographer. You shouldn’t just hire a ‘button-pusher’, nor does any photographer want to feel like a button-pusher. Your wedding only happens once, and it requires a specific type of photographer, not just any photographer. You’ll thank yourself later!”

“We are VERY blessed to have so many talented professional photographers in the Bay Area. We encourage couples to really dig in on their search and find images that speak to them. After looking at multiple photographers, you can begin to understand and communicate what it is you like about the images you’re drawn to. It takes some practice. We have three specific things we think are very important to consider when doing your search:

1. Make sure you see entire galleries before finalizing your choice. Most photographers can put together enough good images to anchor a website, but depth is important. Ask any photographer you’re considering to show you a full gallery of a single wedding.

2. Once you find your photographer match, talk with them and make sure you enjoy their personality. Your photographer(s) will be with you the entire day, and it would be awful to have someone who sours the mood on your most precious day!

3. In this industry, there are A) People who want to give a level of service that is memorable and commendable and B) Vendors who are just ‘doing their job.’ Find the ones who love what they do and have a passion for other people. Not only will they give you the beautiful images you’re hoping for, but they’ll give you an experience that adds joy and warmth to one of the very best days of your lives!”

What to Consider Ahead of Time

Photography style

There are several different styles of wedding photography, and the one you chose could have a slight impact on time frames. A photographer shooting with film will take breaks to swap out rolls, while a photographer with a dramatic style will need time to set up and take down lighting equipment. A quick conversation with your photographer about any factors that influence timing is highly recommended.

Potential backdrops

Steinhardt advises to let your photographer choose the shooting locales because “the photographer will know what’s best for lighting and convenience.”

But if you must have family photos taken with a certain background, let your professional know ahead of time. “They may need to augment the light or bring in additional assistants to help make it happen,” Steinhardt explains.

The advantages of a ‘first look’

A ‘first look’ isn’t for everyone, as some couples want the first time they see each other (in full wedding attire) to take place during the walk down the aisle. But according to Steinhardt, a ‘first look’ provides an opportunity to capture a unique moment of the day, helps relieve anxiety, and allows you to get some extra bride-and-groom photos immediately after.

“If you skip it, then you must adjust the timeline so the photographer has time to shoot bridal portraits, family photos, and [the] bridal party,” Steinhardt says. “It could affect your post-ceremony timeline by up to an hour, and if things are running late, you’ll be cutting into photos with the best light of the day.”

A wedding photography checklist

In addition to communicating your must-have images to your photographer, a wedding photography checklist helps guide you in planning enough time to get all those poses and moments captured.

Early communication

Getting your photo subjects all on the same page requires early communication. Once you’ve outlined your timeline, share it via email with your wedding party and family members so they know ahead of time when and where to meet for portraits. Plan to have printouts of the timeline ready; this way, your wedding planner can hand them out the day-of in case anyone has trouble accessing their email onsite.

Travel time

If you’re shooting at various different venues — for example, a hotel suite, a ceremony site, and a separate reception site — be sure to allocate time for travel between locales.

Category Time Frames

Attire and other details (30 minutes)

Images of your wedding details are absolute essentials, so having the items in one place is a smart move for keeping your timeline on track.

“Gather all the details and have them in the bridal suite at the beginning of the day,” Steinhardt says. “Bring everything! I wouldn’t recommend setting them up yourself, as the photographer will know the best place for lighting and convenience. Just have everything ready to go before they arrive.”

Steinhardt also points out that shooting these details shouldn’t eat into the photo time devoted to capturing moments, so plan to have your photographer tackle this before beginning your ‘getting ready’ shots.

“Usually, I make that my time — I don’t charge the client for that. I just show up early and set these shots up before my scheduled start time.”

Check with your photographer in advance, though, as they might have a different policy.

• Wedding dress (steamed and ready to shoot)
• Veil

Getting ready (60-180 minutes)

“Typically, we see this as the time before the bride puts her dress on,” Steinhardt describes. “One hour before the bride puts her gown on is standard, but anywhere from 1-3 hours is common.”

Steinhardt also points out that the room where the bride and bridesmaids are getting ready can sometimes get hectic on the day of the wedding. To keep things running smoothly, “do your best to keep all the messiness confined to one area, and preferably away from any natural light sources like windows and doors.”

Additionally, in Steinhardt’s experience, hair and makeup always run longer than expected.

“Have a plan on when you want the hairstylist and makeup artist to be finished, and add 30 minutes to an hour of padding. Otherwise, your whole timeline could get out of sync really early in the day.”

A key moment to capture is the first glimpse that a father has of his daughter as a bride, so make sure dad has a call time for this special shot.

Individual portraits (45-60 minutes)

It’s best to capture the bride and groom individually earlier in the day, when everyone’s fresh and in the calm before the storm.

‘First look’ and couple portraits (60 minutes)

The actual ‘first look’ will only take a few minutes, but this is the perfect part of the day for capturing couple shots, too. If you have pets involved in the wedding, this is a great time to include them.

Wedding party portraits (30-45 minutes)

The length of this session will depend on the size of your wedding party. It includes shots of the bride with her bridesmaids, the groom with his groomsmen, and the group as a whole in both traditional and creative poses. Individual portraits of the bride and groom with each of their attendants are also an option, but be sure to make this decision in advance so the appropriate amount of time can be allotted.

Family portraits (30-45 minutes)

Portrait time for family depends on how many people are included in your session.

“It’s about 3-4 minutes per grouping,” Steinhardt says. “Be sure to add some padding for elderly relatives or family members who need to be corralled.”

There’s also no need to try to stagger people using separate call times.

“Just have one time to meet. Family [has] no problem mingling while photos are being taken, so don’t worry about them being bored. They’ll be taking pictures of one another as it’s all very exciting for them.”

Ceremony details and cocktail-hour decor (30 minutes)

“All ceremony details are shot before the ceremony, right after photos conclude and the bride hides away before early guests arrive,” Steinhardt explains. “All decor for the cocktail hour is shot either before the ceremony (alongside ceremony details) or immediately after the ceremony.”

Your family session will need to finish half an hour ahead of your ceremony start time with extra time allotted to accommodate travel to the ceremony location, if necessary. If the ceremony and cocktail hour will take place in different locations, a second photographer can leave the ceremony early to get a headstart on shooting cocktail hour decor before shooting the reception.

Post-ceremony photos (30 minutes)

You’ll want to capture your first moments as a freshly-married couple. If you’re taking transportation to the reception site, shots of the two of you in and around the vehicle are prime photo opportunities. If you’re not having a ‘first look,’ double the allotted time and plan to include any family shots that weren’t captured earlier.

Reception decor (30 minutes)

Photographers tend to shoot the reception decor during cocktail hour before the space is filled with guests.

“Usually we start with smaller details like the signage, flowers, [and] menu before moving on to full room shots,” Steinhardt says. “Some hiccups are when the reception isn’t ready to be shot until 10 minutes before guests are invited in, so the photographer needs to work with the planner on the day-of to momentarily delay guest entry until they have everything shot.”

Cocktail hour and reception photos (throughout the evening)

The rest of your wedding photos will be shot journalism style as events unfold according to your wedding reception timeline.

“Cocktail hour is more about capturing the ambiance of the party and documenting the guests, their outfits, and moments that happen,” Steinhardt says. “Food and drinks are typically the only details that are captured at this point, so there’s no need to include specific shot times in your timeline.”

The same goes for your reception. Your photographer will document the highlights (like the grand entrance, first dance, cake cutting, and more) during the flow of events, and spend the rest of the time capturing table shots of guests, loved ones on the dance floor, and general party photos until it’s time for you to make your grand exit.

No two wedding photography timelines are the same, but by keeping in mind the above factors and tips, you can create a personalized schedule that keeps everyone informed and ensures all of your wedding highlights are captured beautifully. 1. Do you have our wedding date available?

While it might seem like an obvious question, it’s easy to get swept up in a photographer’s work before confirming their schedule is free. Since it’s not unheard of for top photographers to be booked a year in advance, the sooner you verify their availability the better.

2. Do you shoot film, digital, or a mix of both?

Filmed and high-resolution digital images differ in visual effect, cost, processing time, volume, and performance in certain lighting, so many photographers focus exclusively on one or the other. Do your research to determine which format suits you best – or if you want a combination of both – and narrow down your photographers to those who specialize in your preference.

Tip: If you go with film, be sure to ask if the photographer shoots in black-and-white and color, as each requires a different type of film.

3. How long have you been shooting weddings, and what inspired you to start working in the field?

For some photographers, capturing a couple’s special day is a longtime labor of love. For others, it’s a side gig they dabble in as an occasional creative outlet. That’s not to say a part-time photographer can’t be talented (and they’ll definitely cost less than someone dedicated to the art). But hiring a professional wedding photographer is an excellent investment, so get some background on your prospects in terms of experience and inspiration, and see whose stories you connect with most.

4. How would you describe your photography style?

There’s a range of well-known wedding photography styles, so you need to decide which one fits your desired aesthetic and find a photographer who specializes in it. Here’s a rundown of the most popular styles:

• Traditional. It’s a lot like your parents’ wedding photography with lots of timeless, posed photos.
• Photojournalism. It documents the day as it happens, and captures more candid moments than poses.
• Fine art. It relies heavily on specialized lighting, unique framing, and distinctive composition.
• Dramatic. It focuses on a dark, moody aesthetic with lots of shadows and complex lighting techniques.

5. How would you describe your working style?

Some photographers have a working style that’s subtle and unobtrusive, while others are assertive so they can get the best shots. Other variances include how much direction they give, their willingness to work with a shot list, and how they tend to interact with a videographer. You want to be comfortable with the person you spend your day with, and an overview of how a photographer works can help you decide if they’re a match.

6. Are you the photographer who will shoot our wedding, or will someone else be assigned?

Many photographers have associates they employ to maximize the number of weddings they can accommodate. Unless you have it in writing, the professional you meet (and whose portfolio you perused) may not be the one who shows up on your wedding day.

7. Can we see a full gallery?

While you might be excited by the images on a photographer’s website, the featured photographs often represent the best shots taken at multiple events — not necessarily from a full wedding. You want to judge a photographer’s work based on how they shoot weddings from beginning to end, so ask to see full galleries of individual events.

8. Have you ever shot at our wedding venue before?

It’s not necessarily a deal-breaker, but a photographer who has experience shooting at your ceremony or reception venue will know the best spots for photos and how to work with the lighting. Plus, you’ll get to see a full gallery of a wedding that took place there. It can be a big advantage, so be sure to ask about their familiarity with your wedding venues.

9. Can you provide references?

As mentioned previously, you likely came across your prospects from recommendations, but it’s always good to get a range of feedback and ask direct questions to clients who’ve come before you.

10. Are engagement photos a part of the package, or are they an additional fee?

Some couples want engagement pictures as part of their package, while others want a commitment-free opportunity to test a photographer’s talents. Ask about your options ahead of time, as packaged photos tend to maximize value while standalone shoots offer the freedom to switch professionals.

11. How many hours of coverage are included?

Coverage refers to the total time a photographer spends shooting on the day of your wedding, and the cost isn’t always included in the package. You also want to determine if there’s a separate travel fee for the time it takes to journey to your venue(s), especially if you’re hosting a destination wedding.

12. Do you recommend having a second photographer, and how much more will it cost?

The shots in the event galleries you viewed may have been done by more than one photographer. If you want a similar look, you could need a second photographer, so be sure to inquire about the costs before you commit.

13. What are your procedures and fees if the night runs over?

Photographers are often willing to stay beyond their contracted hours to capture an event that’s running behind schedule, but you can definitely expect them to charge for the overage. Find out upfront what the potential costs are, so you’re not surprised by a penalty.

14. Do you bring your own lighting?

Weddings present many different lighting scenarios, and whether any equipment is necessary depends on different factors. This includes indoor vs. outdoor venues, the time of day the wedding events take place, and the couple’s style preferences. Determine under which circumstances your prospects are prepared to work, and if they have lighting equipment solutions to any challenges that may arise.

15. Do you have backup equipment?

Cameras can break, lenses can crack, and batteries can die, so you want your photographer to be as prepared as possible. Confirm they have a full set of backup tools on hand so an emergency can be handled quickly, with grace, and with minimal interruption.

16. Do you have a backup plan in case you need to cancel?

A photographer’s cancellation can wreak havoc on a wedding. Before you place your faith in a professional, find out how they’d handle it if they can’t fulfill their contract.

17. What is your turnaround time for proofs, prints, and files?

Timelines vary between photographers and are affected by retouching practices and format (film vs. digital). If timing is a big consideration for you, find out what to expect in advance.

18. What are your policies on file ownership and sharing?

While it may be surprising, the person who presses the shutter on the camera legally owns the rights to the images — even if you’re the subject and paid for them. If you want exclusive ownership, you need to purchase the rights, so ask ahead of time if they’re willing to sell. Otherwise, accept that the photographer can freely share or use your photos in print and online, including on social media.

19. Do you have liability insurance?

Accidents happen. If a guest trips over some photography equipment or a photographer breaks a window with a wayward light, you don’t want to be held responsible for medical fees or repairs. Confirm your potential photographer has liability insurance, and ask about the type of coverage the policy includes.

We spoke with several top photographers across the US — Seattle-based wedding photographer Emily Keeney, San Francisco Bay Area photographer Todd Rafalovich, and Boston-based photographer Julianne Lesinski of Scarlet Roots — for their tips on where to shoot, what to wear, and how to pose for your summer engagement photos. Here are 20 unique summer engagement photo ideas that leverage the season to help you make your engagement photo session enjoyable, memorable, and perfectly you.

1. Make the Location Meaningful

Think about your favorite seasonal spots to visit and how they can be incorporated into your engagement photo session. The location of your first date or the proposal both make for meaningful options, too.

Keeney: “Beth and Blair love going to this local Seattle park with their dogs in the summer, so we chose it as a photo location because it meant something to them. When they look back at these photos, they’ll remember not only having a great time at the session but also all the happy memories they made [at the park] together.”

2. Wear White

White is practically synonymous with summer, so go ahead and break out your little white dress (LWD) and banish any future confusion about the season your engagement photos were taken. If your fiancé is short on whites, a garment that’s a nice shade of blue — a great engagement photo outfit idea for natural-looking shots — is summery and will make them feel comfortable.

3. Head to the Beach

Rafalovich: “This seems obvious, but there are many reasons [the beach] is such a great location, especially during the summer. The light can be fantastic whether it’s sunny or cloudy — plus, the reflective surface of the sand creates a lot of bounce light. This evens out the light in most directions and is attractive when photographing people. The beach is also ‘interactive.’ The couple can be lying down, sitting, walking, and even running, and it looks natural because people do all of these activities on the sand.”

Lesinski: “Heading to the beach is always a good idea! Splashing around in the waves, getting your toes all sandy, and sharing a few salty kisses make the beach a perfect setting for a romantic engagement session!”

4. Embrace Movement

Summer is particularly perfect for movement as you can take part in outdoor activities to create more organic photos.

Keeney: “Jumping into a pose and holding it until the shutter clicks can feel stiff and unnatural. Most people aren’t super comfortable having their photo taken, so if that’s something you’re worried about, it’s totally okay! The best thing you can do is to keep moving throughout your session. Movement creates life and feels more natural than holding still.”

5. Take Advantage of Crowds

Don’t be dissuaded by all the people flocking to outdoor summer venues. Have your photographer use special camera settings to blur out the tourists walking past for a cool, artistic effect that puts the two of you center stage for your summer engagement photos.

6. Seek Out the Mountains

Keeney: “If you want to get out into the mountains, summer is your big opportunity! During the winter months, some of the most beautiful locations are hidden under snow or blocked by road closures, so summer is the prime time to take advantage. Just be prepared you might need to pay your photographer a travel fee if you’re really heading out there.”

7. Utilize a Boat Dock or Marina

Rafalovich: “Shooting at a boat dock/marina can be very rewarding. The docks and boats lend themselves to different interactions, compositions, and backgrounds, and the light can be nice because of the bounce/reflection off of the water (light surface).”

Because a marina can limit the direction of shooting, especially if it’s windy, Rafalovich recommends having a backup.

8. Welcome Wide-Open Spaces

Summertime offers the perfect weather for visiting meadows, parks, and other open areas for your engagement shoot.

Keeney: “Wide-open spaces shot at the edges of the day are always a hit. Some of my favorite photos are from sessions where the location and the direction of the sun do the heavy lifting. A big field is always so romantic, and when you catch it at sunrise or sunset, it illuminates the grass and creates a beautiful glow. Just keep your outfits on the neutral side, and remember to wear shoes that you can easily walk around in on the uneven ground.”

9. Explore Your Favorite Neighborhood

Sunny, clear skies make a walk around your neighborhood perfect for a summer engagement session.

Keeney: “Grab a cup of coffee and stroll, stopping when you see great photo-ops. Don’t be afraid to explore alleys and untraditional spots, as sometimes that’s where treasures lie! The photo shown here was literally taken in an alley, but the wall behind the couple was just perfect.”

10. Focus on the Foreground

There are plenty of summer flowers in bloom, so consider taking a few snaps that focus on the lush vegetation around you for a colorful dose of the season.

11. Play with Shadows

With the sun so high in the sky, shadows are particularly long in the summer. Work in some shadow poses for an artistic look that stands out.

12. Go Formal

Go beyond tank tops by opting for a formal dress and/or suit that sets the tone for a fancy engagement photo session — an especially unique look contrasting with your surroundings. It’s also excellent practice for your formal wedding wear and will set your engagement photography apart.

13. Fit in Running Water

Summer rays dancing off the surface of a river or waterfall make the water look particularly inviting. You can even cool off by getting your feet wet, creating a charming pose for engagement photos.

14. Embrace Props

Lesinski: “Incorporating props in your engagement photos are a great way to showcase your personality, interests, and hobbies. Whether it’s a hat, your dog, or a baby blue Vespa, props are always welcome!”

Rafalovich, on the other hand, uses props sparingly to put the visual attention squarely on the couple’s interaction. But he also recognizes that small props can assist with couples’ comfort level in front of the camera and be downright useful in the summer.

Rafalovich: “Sunglasses can assist if the sun is still a bit bright as well as used in the hands to keep the fingers from looking awkward. Hats, used sparingly, can add to photographic possibilities if they are used in the hand as a prop or on the head to help shade or soften the light on sunny (or even cloudy) days.”

15. Dress for the Weather

Sundresses, maxi dresses, and rompers add a fun, casual vibe to your engagement photos — and also happen to be cool and comfortable outfits. Trending fabrics such as gingham, seersucker, and white denim will also give your photos a seasonal look.

16. Stay Home

Do you live in a place where the summer heat makes it difficult to be outside for long stretches of time? Shoot at home!

Keeney: “No, seriously! It’s one of the best locations for photos because it couldn’t be more personal to you. As a photographer, I notice that my clients are so at ease in their own space. If you’re camera shy at all, it could be a great option. Also, please know your home doesn’t have to be magazine-worthy. It just needs to have some natural light and you.”

17. Time Your Shoot to Sunset

A summer sunset shoot is a perfect opportunity to experiment with timing. The golden rays of the setting sun will wash your photos with beautiful light.

Lesinski: “I always schedule my engagement sessions around sunset so that we have the most gorgeous, flattering light. Plus, who doesn’t love a good summer sunset photo?”

18. Consider a Night Shoot

With temperatures high, summer is a great time to take photos in the evening. A nighttime engagement photo session offers a heightened sense of drama and is prime time for experimenting with lighting techniques. Ask your engagement photographer for recommendations on potential places that offer built-in lighting sources to plan your shoot.

“The most important thing is to choose a place that feels the most like you,” says Atlanta wedding photographer Savanna Sturkie of Savanna Sturkie Photography. “I simply advise my couples to select a place that means a lot to them or a place they like to hang out, which allows for a sense of comfort. Photoshoots are already scary, so why not do it in a place that feels homey?”

In the end, she emphasizes working with your photographer to choose a place that warms your heart and feels right to you as a couple. To give you a head start, we asked Sturkie and Georgia photographer Chaise Tinsley of The Tinsley Co. to share their favorite locations for engagement photos in Atlanta.

1. Arabia Mountain

“Arabia Mountain, part of the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve, sits just off I-20 about 30 minutes east of the city. It’s a really unique landscape for this area of the country, making you feel like you’ve been transported to another world,” says Tinsley. “This huge granite giant gives couples the mountain feel right outside of the city. There are hiking trails, views, a lake, and a million beautiful reflection pools if it’s been raining. Depending on the time of year, it also features a stunning array of various flora.”

Note: Weekends are packed, but you’ve got plenty of space to wander around. Both sunrise and sunset are equally wonderful here.

2. Atlanta Botanical Garden

“Atlanta Botanical Garden is a fantastic choice because it really offers so much variety, and essentially any couple can find something for them,” says Sturkie. “It has beautiful greenhouses, florals, and vegetation, but a lot of people don’t realize it also has a cactus garden (for my desert fans) and a gorgeous view of the city skyline. It’s so vast, you can feel like you have plenty of variety in your backgrounds and posing.”

3. The Beltline

“The Beltline is another great option — specifically, the section that runs from Cabbagetown to Reynoldstown as it includes the famous graffiti art wall and the Krog Street Tunnel,” says Sturkie. “If you want photos with a lot of color and personality, this would be a great option.”

4. Cabbagetown

“I’m probably biased to the Cabbagetown neighborhood because it’s where I live, but I love neighborhood photoshoots in general,” says Sturkie. “They offer color, greenery, and an overall sense of familiarity. Maybe it feels more natural for me to shoot in Cabbagetown specifically because it feels like home, but my clients seem to love it, as well. It’s just so easy to take a sweet walk through the colorful shotgun houses, laugh, and explore with the love of your life. [While you’re here,] think about hanging out in or around your favorite shop or where you like to go on dates. Whatever location floats your boat, it’s another route that offers a sense of uniqueness yet naturalness.”

5. Cator Woolford Gardens

“Looking for a garden in the city? This is your place,” says Tinsley. “Likely best known for its grand staircase, Cator Woolford Gardens is located just northeast of downtown. There is plenty of space on the grounds to get different looks — from the staircase and the large open field in the center of the garden to a walkway paved in flowers and greenery. It’s such a versatile spot.”

Note: There is a session fee for engagement photography.

6. Oakland Cemetery

“You may be thinking, ‘A cemetery? For engagement photos? No way.’ Hear me out,” says Sturkie. “While it is a cemetery, it’s also a city landmark and gorgeous garden. Legit, the historic Oakland Cemetery hosts weddings and events! Like the Botanical Garden, it has a beautiful view of the city skyline as well as rolling hills, stunning greenery, and a very cool set of statues. It’s huge, too, so you never feel overcrowded or watched during your session.”

Tinsley adds: “Founded in 1850, Atlanta Cemetery — now known as Oakland Cemetery — transports you to a place filled with old Southern history. You’d think you were in Charleston or Savannah instead of ITP (“inside the perimeter”). For couples who aren’t afraid to get a little weird, this location offers beautiful architecture, colorful blooms, memories of Atlanta icons, and the backdrop of the city surrounding this haven. The sunset always casts an incredible golden glow across the grounds while the cobblestone walkways weave couples through contrasting life and death, greenery and stone. It’s a win for anyone looking for something out of the ordinary.”

7. Historic Fourth Ward Park

“[Historic Fourth Ward Park] is lovely with nice greenery, foliage, and a stunning fountain,” says Sturkie. “Not many people know about it or take advantage of it. It looks really gorgeous in the fall, especially.”

8. Piedmont Park

“If you want a classic Atlanta spot, go to Piedmont Park,” says Sturkie. “Depending on your photographer, you can go really any route with Piedmont — traditional, documentary, or something in-between. It just offers a gorgeous backdrop and a fun place to be no matter what your style.”

9. Sweetwater Creek State Park

“Sweetwater Creek State Park is a great choice for outdoor engagement photos without straying too far from Downtown Atlanta,” says Tinsley. “Located about 30 minutes west of the city, Sweetwater Creek offers hiking trails, rock outcropping, and a waterside view that looks like it’s straight out of North Carolina. If you’re looking for those mountain getaway vibes, Sweetwater Creek offers that without the drive north and without the long hike. Sunrise and sunset are both great at this location. Sunrise gives a cooler mood and sunset a warmer mood. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch fog rolling down the creek in the early morning.”

Note: You’ll need to pay an entry fee at either the guard station at the gate or by using the honor system at the trailhead, depending on the time of day. Make sure to check the hours before you go.

“You and your fiancé will get a chance to warm up in front of the lens and feel what it’s like to have photos taken so that come wedding day, you’ll already know how it works,” Austin wedding photographer Nikkolas Nguyen explains. “You and your photographer will also get to know each other and establish a relationship, which will ease tension. If your photographer feels like an old friend, you’ll naturally feel more relaxed and open.”

1. Auditorium Shores

“[Auditorium Shores] offers scenic views of the downtown skyline from several different vantage points including the Long Center’s City Terrace which has unique architecture from the original 1950s structure,” the Schneiders say. “The Long Center is also a favorite location for couples wanting skyline photos at night. Additionally, it offers natural views of the neighboring Butler Park which has an open, grassy field, a pond, a fountain, and Doug Sahm Hill Summit. It’s also a dog-friendly area for couples that want to include their furry friends.”

Note: Auditorium Shores often has events and outdoor concerts, so it’s good to check the schedule online before planning an engagement session here. Also, it can get very crowded on the weekends.

2. The Boardwalk at Lady Bird Lake

“A popular spot for proposals, The Boardwalk [at Lady Bird Lake] is a new addition to the hike and bike trails with views of Lady Bird Lake and the skyline (which is especially beautiful at sunset),” say the Schneiders. “The boardwalk connects to the old trail which has giant trees for some natural views. Note that parking can be a challenge in this area, so it’s best to use a rideshare [service].”

3. The Texas Capitol

“A good spot for couples wanting to include some historic Texas scenery in their photos, the Texas Capitol has beautiful grounds with gigantic trees and lush, green grass — while the interior is one of the few free indoor locations in Austin and a great rainy-day option,” say the Schneiders. “Our favorite spots inside the Capitol are the staircases and the dome. This is a popular tourist attraction, so if you are planning on photographing inside, we recommend checking the hours before going. Note: Weekdays are best.”

4. Downtown Austin

“A great mix of old, historic buildings and new, modern buildings, Downtown Austin features the iconic Congress Bridge (aka Bat Bridge) with downtown views and the colorful Tau Ceti (the tallest mural in Austin one block east of Congress on Second),” say the Schneiders. “Other highlights include colorful murals outside the Mexic-Arte Museum, the historic Driskill hotel, the modern art museum The Contemporary, and views of the Texas State Capitol in the background.”

5. East Austin

“[Think] colorful murals, eclectic bars, coffee shops and breweries, a mix of old and new Austin, and large trees and grassy fields,” say the Schneiders. “The vibrant, colorful buildings in East Austin are perfect for a more playful collection of [photos]. Festival Beach is also a popular spot for couples who want to include their dogs in some portraits.”

6. Enchanted Rock

“One of the best possible places to have an engagement shoot? Enchanted Rock! Even though it’s about two hours outside of Austin, Texas, it’s magical,” says Nguyen. “The massive pink granite dome that rises high above the surrounding plains gives you such a beautiful Texas landscape for some whimsical photos. And if that doesn’t draw you in, the scenery and abounding rocky formations add a magical, enchanting feel.”

7. Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

“Thinking of more romantic, dreamy engagement photos? The gardens, natural areas and arboretum of Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Hill Country would be my top pick,” says Nguyen. “The grounds provide a romantic backdrop for an incredible engagement session. If you go at the right time (hint: golden hour!) you can even capture some beautiful late sun rays falling down to give your photos that dreamy touch.”

8. McKinney Falls State Park

“[This is] a beautiful park just southeast of Austin with stunning landscapes (including ancient volcanic formations, small waterfalls and ponds, tree groves, and grassy fields with wildflowers in the spring). McKinney Falls [State Park] is another weekday recommendation, as it gets very crowded on the weekends,” say the Schneiders. “There’s an entrance fee per vehicle as well as a photography permit fee. We also recommend wearing bug spray in the woods and only parking in designated parking lots to avoid getting a ticket.”

9. Moontower Saloon

“If you’re looking for a more laidback location for your engagement shoot, I’d say consider Moontower Saloon,” says Nguyen. “One of the many reasons why I enjoyed shooting here was because they allow dogs! In fact, the Saloon has over 11 acres of dog-friendly space with live music, patio bars, and shady oak trees — plenty of options for an adventurous yet easygoing session!”

10. Seaholm District

“Several blocks downtown between West Cesar Chavez Street and North Lamar Boulevard, the Seaholm District includes a vast variety of urban and natural scenery, plus skyline views, all within walking distance,” say the Schneiders. “The new, modern Austin Central Library, Butterfly Bridge, Seaholm Power Plant, Sand Beach Park, Open Room outdoor sculpture, hiking trails along Lady Bird Lake, and Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge are especially photogenic. Note: Austin Central Library requires a reservation ahead of time, and the Seaholm Power Plant has restrictions on the property.”

11. South Congress

“One of my go-to engagement shoot spots is South Congress in Downtown Austin,” says Nguyen. “It always feels like an urban adventure when I’m photographing there! This is because the vibrant streets of South Congress offer many spots for shooting. Some of my favorites include the South Congress Hotel with its modern flair and the South Congress Bridge with the iconic Austin skyline!”

The Schneiders agree. “A bustling street with lots of unique, colorful storefronts and new, modern structures, South Congress is home to the ‘I Love You So Much’ mural at Jo’s Coffee [and] the legendary Continental Club. This is a great area for couples [who] are foodies and want some photographs documenting their love of food at some well-known local restaurants (i.e. Homeslice Pizza, Amy’s Ice Cream, Magnolia Cafe). … Because South Congress is such a popular location for locals and tourists, and parking can be a challenge, we recommend sessions on weekdays or early on weekend mornings.”

12. South First Street

“The iconic ‘Greetings from Austin’ mural is located on South First Street and connected to Roadhouse Relics (which also has some cool neon signs),” say the Schneiders. “Be prepared to wait your turn for photos in front of the mural. [Fortunately], other colorful buildings are within walking distance.”

13. University of Texas Campus

“: A popular location for University of Texas alumni, the University of Texas campus has beautiful architecture, courtyards, large oak trees, some palm trees, an antique greenhouse, a turtle pond, and a vibrant pride of Barbados flowers in the spring and summer,” the Schneiders say. “Some couples walk across Guadalupe Street to The Drag for some more eclectic scenery including the ‘Hi, How Are You?’ frog mural by Daniel Johnston.”

14. Wildseed Farms

“If you’re heading toward Enchanted Rock, I also recommend checking out Wildseed Farms, featuring one of the largest garden centers in the Texas Hill Country,” says Nguyen. “I love being able to walk the trails with my clients and using the lush flora on the grounds to capture romantic engagement photos!”

15. Zilker Metropolitan Park

“There’s a reason Zilker [Metropolitan] Park is considered ‘Austin’s most-loved park!’ It’s buzzing with activity and carries such a fun vibe, making it a great location to photograph fun-loving couples who like to be outdoors,” says Nguyen. “I especially love the diversity of the park. It gives you many options for your shoot from the playfulness of the playground to the scenic overlooks that give you a beautiful view of the Austin skyline or Lady Bird Lake.”
